  • Scratch resistant
  • Durable

Types of hybrid flooring:

  • WPC Flooring ( Wood Plastic Composite ) - a combination of recycled wood and plastic composite.

This flooring is slightly softer than SPC and quieter underfoot.

  • SPC Flooring ( Stone Plastic Composite ) - a combination of compressed limestone and plastic composite.

Even though both categories have the name hybrid, it is important to view them as separate products.

The main difference between SPC and WPC hybrid flooring is that WPC includes a foaming agent through the core. This causes WPC hybrid flooring to be filled with tiny microbubbles of air throughout the entire core. The effect of this is that WPC hybrid flooring is lighter in weight due to the aeration of the core. This causes WPC to have weaker joints and is overall less solid than SPC flooring.

Cons of hybrid vinyl floors

  • May scratch or dent when moving furniture
  • Discolouration - may happen with exposure to sunlight or intense artificial light. Latex and rubber mats can also cause the floor to discolour.
  • Cost- although cheaper than timber it's often dearer than standard vinyl or laminate flooring

You may still be wondering if Hybrid vinyl flooring is worth it, the short answer is YES.

Given that the pros outweigh the cons, and also that its popularity has increased making it the flooring of choice for many Australian households. But ultimately it comes down to personal preference If you want the warm, classic look of hardwood floors but don’t want to worry about scratches or water damage, hybrid flooring is the way to go.
